What Is Facebook?
As the most used website on the internet, it is almost impossible not to know of facebook, but you might be finding yourself asking the question, what is it? The best way to describe facebook is identifying it as a soapbox in which you stand that is surrounded by friends, family, and colleagues. The moment you do anything, that action is then broadcasted to everyone registered as a “friend” of yours. How this soapbox is beneficial to a business is best described in this example below.
Step 1. Person A. (named “John”) has 3 facebook friends and clicks on the “Like” button on Webmosa’s facebook page.
This action will then be broadcasted to all of John's facebook friends.
Step 2. Person B. who has 2 facebook friends sees
the notice on the right in their "News Feed" (shows the recent activities of all friends), becomes curious and clicks on "Webmosa" to see what it is, and also clicks the "Like" button.
Step 3. Person C. who also has 2 facebook friends sees a notice in their "News Feed" informing them that Person B. likes Webmosa. Person C. rather than even looking at what Webmosa is, chooses just to click the "Like" button on the status.
This is a very simple example that depicts how a facebook page can become viral. The average user has 130 friends (source), and from our experience we find that if done properly every "Like" generates 0.4 new "Likes". So in short, buy 5 fans and get 2 free.
Using facebook as a business page opens an opportunity to create a marketing chain reaction. The entire goal is to engage users to interact with your business page. The more people "Like" it, leave comments, or upload pictures the better. The more who "Like" the page, the higher the probability those interactions will occur.
